Statecraft

Statecraft is a body of work made between Australia and the United Kingdom. It is a diary of crossing borders, of passing through territorial and psychological states, of trying to locate oneself within history and geography.

Paintings, carpets, embroidered textiles, photographs, and digital media — this work is shaped by the visual and material cultures of statehood and by the hierarchies that underpin them. It speaks to image making and image scrambling, to the writing and rewriting of our narratives as they move from reportage and hot takes through to histories, stories, and mythologies, until they are metamorphosed as part of the landscapes themselves.
