Eleni Ioakimidis
(b. Sydney/Gadigal/City
Eleni is a Greek Australian visual artist living and working on Gadigal Land in the Eora Nation. She works across a diverse range of mediums including sculpture, photography, video, installation and painting.
Their works emerge as fragments of a story, autobiographical in tone yet ambiguous in detail, drifting between fiction and reality. Her work explores themes of memory, the domestic space, traditions and culture. She playfully uses humour and nostalgia when navigating the relationship between people and objects. Eleni blurs the lines between the familiar and the surreal; her installations often explore the tension between function and fantasy, inviting viewers to pause, look again, and imagine other ways of seeing and being.
